Your lips curl with syrupy words ;
a poison as deep as any I've known
yet with allure like Snow White's apple.
The luscious red that lulls to sleep

Saw you stretching like summer shadows
cool beneath the pulsing sun.
Your voice , a threat I did not heed ,
like rattling of the coyest serpent.

Struck them just to watch them bleed
and I another victim yet
the fruit which is forbidden us
though dangerous is much desired.

So kill me now my luscious serpent.
Coil and crush me in your grasp.
Death in poisonous ecstasy.
Content to gasp in sacrifice.

The undeniable melody of dark promises sung from blood-stained lips... Perilous, you know this, yet you cannot help but rest your head upon the pallid breast of Temptation... "Content to gasp in sacrifice..."

An excellent description of a macabre obssession... Vivid, and dripping with morbid beauty... Divine, to say the least. Thank you for sharing with us, my dear friend. And merci for your gratifying comments. Rest assured, they are very much appreciated, and cherished.

*feeling life pulse through my veins for the first time today...*

Beautiful.

Always,

Your avid fan/friend,

~Fleur.

I just love your description in this and the metaphor of the woman as the snake is very effective.
Loved it, you get your message across succintly but masterfully.

I thought this poem had a dark sensuality to it. There is a reason Lust is one of the seven deadly sins. But most people feel that it's worth it. But lust is a pallid wraith of love.

Oh wow, doug! If anyone has EVER captured obsession FULL, it all its grip, you have
done so here. This was magnificent. You have conveyed the strength and hold of
temptation and all that it does to break a soul, exceptionally well, my friend. This was
so well done, in fact, that with each stanza, I was compelled just a little bit more.

Well done!!

~Breezy
