This isn't a tutorial poem by no means i may have what some think is the perfect life and while i'm no dr. ruth, i've been where your at beleive it or not i was young once i've been there and done that, perhaps i've been a little luckier than the average bear considering what i did for a living, being an ex rock musician, but people need to wake up, i wasn't born married i actually had another life before this one. i'm only writting this so as to aliveiate any false impressions that i notice all to often in the coments i receive from both men and women all though with all due respect and i'm not being sexest, the percentage seem's to fall a little more on the women side. Be that as it may, i'm simple trying to keep myself free of anyone's exspectations and just wanna be myself this time around. make no mistake especially the female portion of this site, i mean every sylable i write in my poems about my love for my wife, but i need to be able to express my self all forms on the subject of love, not as an expert by no means, but as some one who after 41 years married to the same women and still loving it, with all due respect, i must be doing something right, but i don't expect to be envied for it like i get alot of in comments, cause the thruth is and here i go being tactless but at least i ain't being deceptive, and i don't mean to be judgemental, but love doesn't just up and leave with out a reason as i hear and read so much of on this site, and it take's two not one, and most of all there's always gotta be something you didn't do as well as something you did do to cause a break up. If i learned one thing about life it's all inside of you, and how you been raised. and a lot of just plain old fashion luck., not mention one doesn't just throw in the towel because on any given day, they don't feel the passion they once felt, which is my guess why so many people are alone in the first place of course that's not pertaining to death which is entirely different. a funny thing about love, just when you think it ain't looking that's when you blow it, perhaps we end up alone because we haven't as human beings, realized the fact that love may know something we don't like the secret of longevity in a relationship.
Love,
that chemical coalition
between a women and man.
The one you thought you
knew so well untill
your heaven turned to
hell.
Love,
oh you thought it could be found?
like something bought at walmart in aisle six
just look around.
Love,
no it doesn't work that way,
now you see it now you don't and in between
you play.
Love is born within the soul and not the
heart or head, self respect and self
control you won't find
in a
bed.
Love
is unconditional
not who's right or wrong,
it's not a man or women thing
or who's weak or
strong.
Love
is more than friendship
or saying that you care,
it's neither lust or even trust
or trying to
compare.
it's
more than just commitment
and less than fantasies,
you don't throw in the towel because
you can't do what you
please.
Ben

Ben ... first let me say your poetry is a beauty that never fails to calm the soul and make
the heart smile. This piece had an amazing flow, and yes, the advice given is quite
plausible and genuine.
I do though, take a small exception with your author's note. You are a man of passion, that
is to be certain! But your view on "how to make love stay" and your application of such
is a rather global generalization, to this reader at least. Love is a very complex, subjective,
strongly emotional enigma which, I believe can not be defined by ANY means. In fact,
sometimes love actually DOES up and leave for no reason ... or perhaps wasn't even
there in the first place. It's not as simple as saying it's something you did or said or didn't
do or didn't say. And it is FAR too individually applied to hazard reasons for why it seems
to elude a vast amount of hearts ..
And it is because of this that we admire and respect that you and your wife have the kind
of relationship you do. I am sure your "fans" realize it didn't come with ease and that in any
relationship there will be hardship, pain and compromise. THAT, is why, I believe it is so
enviable-- because you have lasted a very long time and are still so seemingly crazy about
her. And that, my dear friend, is something to be delighted in and shared. I would also
bravely offer, that it is the romance that has your loyal female fans so enamoured.
This, poet is actually a GOOD thing. For isn't that the ultimate goal of a poet? To move, us,
heart and soul? Yes, yes, I think it is. : )
We thank you for sharing ~
