Why did I let so many good years pass me by
And when I look at our son
you know our youngest one
Standing there broken and confused
Looking for the other parent, you know the one that could maybe bend mamma's rules
Mamma where's my daddy?
Standing there with flashbacks of my own upbringing I saw myself in him and I said what I wish was true about mines..
Baby daddy's at work
cause how could I tell him that daddy's a jerk
Who left you or better yet left us
Becaue somewhere down the line he wasn't taught
That though the road may get tough, it's not the time to run but take a stand
And be not a distant memory but a solid man
Not a little boy who's afraid of commitment
but one who gets the extinguisher when it gets hot in the kitchen
I gave a man my heart but not just any man...my husband
But it seems like he took my heart and recorded it's beatings
I could see him sitting in front the big screen pressing rewind again...again...and again
Laughing and Pausing at the scences that caused me the most pain
but still I put in my time
taking care of kids before after and in between mines
While I'm staring off in the daze your son keeps pulling on my leg I snap out of it
What, What do you want I would ask
A question for a question I guess
Momma where's my daddy?
At work baby...Huh...I guess he used up all his sick days [comments] => 3 [counter] => 228 [topic] => 31 [informant] => brownsugar8272 [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 7 [ratings] => 2 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => StoryPoetry )

well i felt the emotion in this piece
it's a good write but maybe a stronger ending would help
i sense the tiredness of the ending but maybe expressing it in a different way

I know somewhat of how you feel
my mom's a single parent who raised 4 kids...

I felt a great deal of sadness and a pining heart within these words.
