[bodytext] => All these happy faces that I see,
Do they know the real, true me ? Do they care to search inside ? To peel away this smiling mask ‘neath which I hide? To see the place where my heart truly lies? Too proud, to let the pain show Too weak, not to take it as a blow, I stand here only surviving Cause I’m so good at denying The hurt and the sorrow that I behold. People don’t see, This real, true me, I am weary Of this burden I carry, And of keeping my feeling always hidden deep , deep inside. Tired of always pretending, Always only one part of me showing, Forever, wanting, waiting for the right person to come, When I’d feel safe, like a flower in the sun, And to be able to unfold my soul in security. People are so blinded by prejudice, There is so much that they miss, Had they but looked they would have discovered, A soul that has already suffered, Yet, still full of love and hope and dreams. Like a diamond with many faces, One or two alone, are but empty window panes, It only shines when all are combined, Such am I, my soul. Waiting for you to crack this wall, That I’ve built every time that I’ve given my heart and cried. A loving action, a kind word or two will do, All I ask, is to keep me safe, and, This smiling golden mask, I will cast away And give my life, my love to you.
