The world is engulf with greed and hypocrisy,
in which one eye is only open
and the city is bleak.

Only bright lights
and distorted noises cover that.
The people are dolls and they wander around
like a walking corpse...
as if there's a meaning behind the goal
they work hard to accomplish.

They can't see the truth anymore
because they already navigate
under the will of superiors.

Depression falls
secretly onto their shoulders
until it grows heavier and problematic.
Until they can no longer walk
with their heads up
and lips burning with smile.

We make power
as if it's the only thing
that will keep us superior.

This world is a rotting purgatory,
neither leading to Heaven, nor Hell.

God,

why are you so cruel?

God isn't the cruel one. He gives us all free will.
Very thought provoking, well written write.

I totally agree with emystar. God isn't cruel. It's people who are cruel.

WE decide which way we are going.

It's really easy to blame everything on God isn't it? That's dodging responsibility.

***** does happen and it happens for a reason...

Well ... what I was going to say, the previous poets' comments have already
done so. And they are right, of course. The cruelties on earth are a direct
result of human egomaniacal and narcissistic pursuit of wealth and
occupation of power. 'Tis a sad truth that many feel the "goal" in life is
the accumulation of monetary wealth and/or power.

Still, there is much passion in this and I do understand your woe. But
the only way to truly make a difference is to stop the apathy and make
this world what we want it to be. What it should be. What it was meant to be ~

Very thought provoking write.

@ Davinah and emystar
God is cruel, but not always to those who deserve it and sometimes to those that dont . I abandoned religon years ago, so dont think im a saint or nuthin, but growing in a "christian" home, i was taught out of the bible "God is no respector of persons."
Romans 9:3 "If God loves one but not the other, can we call him unjust? May it never be!"

I can't edit this poem and add a poet's note because I'd have to delete it and I don't know how to delete poems in this site.

I am not truly referring to religion God. I'm simply using the term 'God' for personal purpose (and not in a bad way) and the fact that anything can be considered 'God-like'. That not all God-like entity/object/existence bring a never-ending string of invincible hope and happiness. I was simply expressing what my thoughts are thinking. This is how my thoughts molded my fingers to write in whatever way it wanted.
