the collage you had painted with words, reminiscing
of the pieces of stained glass and plastic
of a CD case smudged with white pollen.

looking through a keyhole, she
is dancing in that green hallway, academic
colors so symbolic to what she was excited for.
her first hundred dollars.
and many more to come
yet she didn't know
and the lips touched
"just to breathe" you said but
i knew
i knew already that there was much more to you
than one breath as you taught me the curves of a
slender woman's body smudged with white pollen.

or when we all got out on the hill and flew away
together, lost in windy night warming the embrace.
and the lips touched
"just to breathe" you said but
i knew
i knew already there was much more to you
than one breath as i wished we were alone that night.

flying past in that green hallway, flood
washing away the shame down to your collar, you lit
your halo with a cigarette burn.
and you gave me the CD case smudged with white pollen
i remember. in that green hallway.

one last time i closed my eyes under the weight
of your lashes saying goodbye to my cheeks.
one last time i flashed the past of u playing taxi
and coffee delivery
and therapist
"Edi, give it to me" with your hand out
do you remember that Kelsey?
i stood there ready, feeling your warmth
and firm breasts against my coat behind that house
and the lips touched
"just to breathe" you said but
i knew
i knew already there was much more to you
before you flew away to join the angel limbo
with your halo glowing red.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
