Array ( [sid] => 136343 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => The Child [time] => 2007-07-30 12:31:59 [hometext] => [bodytext] => The child looks up to the mothers eyes
and sees a loss of hope
she sees her body tired out
and unable to cope

The child desperatly asks the mother
if she would like to play
she just turns her back
says nothing
only walks away

The child looks at the mother
as she runs away to hide
the mother is confused
all messed up inside

The child runs after her
and asks her what is wrong
but there is no answer
just a song

A song that the mother sings
to her that had a lovely ring
nothing the child could do
but to listen to the mother sing

The child still has no idea
what the mother is singing about
But then the song changes from singing
to screams and shouts

The child is scared
but leans over, gives the mother a hug
and a little kiss
but still wonders what is happening
what did she do
to deserve all this?

The child asks just once more
to find out what is happening
and hopes for a proper answer
and not start to sing

The mother turns around
with tears in each eye
and says she has cancer
and is about to die

The mother is stressed out
because the childs father had died too
just a week ago
what worse could happen to you?

The child starts crying
as she grips onto the mother
as tight as she could
For the child knows what that means
it was all understood

She would be going to that orphanage
once again
what a sad place to be
for her biological parents abandoned her
when she was still a babe
still unable to see

Now the mother dies a month later
the child is back at the home
the child has a future
- yea a future, unknown

The child knows that she would never be picked
for the other children there
because the children say that she has grown ugly
and has "steel wool hair"

But then a lady comes in
and looks for a child there
and she finds a connection with the child
the one who had "steel wool hair"

Something about her made her want to take her home
to keep
to feed her
to be there for her
and to keep her neat

A mother is what she wanted to become
A big job that had to be done

The child just wonders if this would be the last time
or is there any more
because the child is sick of being upset
sick of being sore

But this particular mother had something in her eyes
that she is the one for the child
no gimicks
no lies

Now the child is living happily with five in a family
oh how the child has a future
a future the child finally sees.
