Taken completely by surprise The last place one would search Born from a place of comfort The knowing look The reassuring glance The innocent gesture The hint of romance A sad smile A tear stained cheek A common embrace To soothe the ache Who could imagine Through true friendship Such platonic arrangement Something so pure would emerge As fragile as a butterfly Braking free of cocoon This most unexpected love
