Array ( [sid] => 13701 [catid] => 1 [aid] => Mick [title] => A Piece of String (not a great title, but still read it please!) [time] => 2003-03-04 08:30:00 [hometext] => written for a man who was killed today (monday) in a car accident. he was divorced and had two kids. he worked where my parents do. And that's also where I work (as a janitor, hey, im only 14 what do you expect) And i just thought i would write this.....hope you like it [bodytext] => Well now goodbye Chet
Though I never really talked to you
You seemed to have an aura around you
That made me want to smile when I saw you

You left behind two kids
When you stepped into your car
Although you never knew it would happen
It did, you didn't make it to work alive

And it seems to me you were best of men
Always seemed to be smiling when I saw you
And I never really knew you, but still I'm sad
You're life, like a piece of string, got cut way too short

Well now goodbye Chet
Though I never really talked to you
It seemed you really did enjoy life
Never seemed to ever be under too much stress

And goodbye Chet
From a young kid, you didn't really know
I just want to say goodbye again
And now I send out my prayers to the kids you left behind

And it seems to me you were best of men
Always seemed to be smiling when I saw you
And I never really knew you, but still I'm sad
You're life, like a piece of string, got cut way too short

Good poem. I am glad this guy gave you such a good impression, but sad his life had to be taken. Things happen all the time, though..

Thanks for the submission - it was thought provoking.

I think it's a fine title. And a decent poem.
