suit up for the day.
No time for sleep,
no words left to say.

Gone for three years now.
Hasn't kissed his wife
nor held his children.
For three years, he's left his life.

I can hear the bombs
calling my name again.
Goodnight, goodbye my love,
for today might be my end.

I know it's coming,
I can tell by each blow.
Killing men who fight for their country,
how great this burden i must tow.

I hear the bombs
calling my name again.
They come in and surround me,
and now i must assend.

Goodbye my love,
i wish you could see.
What this war has done,
to both you and to me.

Now to Heaven
I will be.
Sorry for leaving,
please forgive me.

These weary eyes
and these weary hands,
kill the innocent,
to make me less of a man.

I hear the bombs
echo in my head.
I awake from the nightmare,
with you in my bed.

20 years since then,
I'm emotionally and mentally gone.
Can't really be myself
knowing the bombs are still going on [comments] => 1 [counter] => 259 [topic] => 57 [informant] => angel_j_777 [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 3 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => war )

Oh my.
My eyes widened further as i read on. You display such emotion through this poem. I love it and it makes my heart ache.
The ending was so amazing and so very true.
Lovely.
