And I've so much left to do
The rain outside is pouring
And still I think of you...

The books are piled very tall
Begging some attention
My heart feels huge, and still I fall
Into this fool's suspension.

This lightness is addictive,
Here inside your head.
Though your smile is full of life,
Your eyes, my love, are dead.

It kills me to admit it
But I know why you lie,
I know my hand and yours won't fit
Though you have yet to try.

You still love that girl you met
So many years ago
Your heart is concrete, and it has set
Why won't you let me go?

This can only hurt me more
The longer it goes on,
The bruises only get more sore
With each passing dawn.

I can't be the one you wish
I am simply me,
So take this sadly longing kiss
And maybe soon you'll see

I'm on my way to better places
Far away from here
Far from old, familiar faces
Without you, my dear-

I don't wish you to remember me
The way you remember her,
She caused you so much pain, I see
The truth behind the blur.

Trust that I do love you
More than words can say
And my heart is breaking, too
Now that I'm on my way.

Maybe someone's out there
Who'll be my cure
And he will love me (if I dare)
As much as you love her. [comments] => 4 [counter] => 294 [topic] => 22 [informant] => Tokay [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 7 [ratings] => 2 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => LostLove )
