When finished she stood and picked up her gauntlets
Slowly with determined step she walked into the sunlight
The day was warm as the bright sun rose in a cloudless sky
Twas a perfect day to die but an even better day to live

She look across towards her enemy, standing, waiting for her
Row upon row, gathered thickly in defiance waiting for the attack
Reaching for her weapons she tested their weight, their sharpness
With a deep breath she swung her arms then relaxed her muscles
Twas a perfect day to die but an even better day to live

With a steady step she advanced upon the army of her enemy
They did not move but stood their ground, resolute and defiant
She knelt and prayed for strength then rose and charged their ranks
Battle lust surged through her veins and gave her added strength
Twas a perfect day to die but an even better day to live

Her blade she swung with vicious blows, cutting left and right
Great was the slaughter as she advanced within their ranks
Perspiration ran down her body as with effort she walked victorious
Mounds of her enemy were everywhere filled with dead and dying
Twas a perfect day to die but an even better day to live

As she laid down her weapons and looked upon the scene
Her enemy was no more, the ground she saw now cleared
In her mind she saw the rows of beautiful and brilliant colour
Of asters and carnations, of gerberas, lilies and of marigolds
Twas a perfect day to live but an even better day to plant

Wow! Such wonderful poetry for such a simple subject. I absolutley loved this. When I'm reading poem upon poem of frequently done topics with cliche lines, this truly stands out and is so refreshing. Thank you!
