Array ( [sid] => 141916 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => The Question [time] => 2008-04-27 17:39:29 [hometext] => It was a dark time for me when I wrote this, but the process really helped me come to terms with things. [bodytext] => Winding trail to nothing
The path beyond extinction
Buried tracks and brittle bones
Yet where is recollection?

Consumption - no conservation
Conversation but no consensus
Admissions but not of guilt
Never true confessions

Empty promise, broken dreams
No ambition, fear exceeds
Answers far from defined truths
Skeletal hands around the noose
Heart so empty, so it seems
Yet love is there
That's why it bleeds
Step beyond the road thats paved
Or risk the early living grave

Reach inside and grip it tight
For outside forces have titan might
And what is left for one to see?
It's just oneself on grounded knee

Truth it seems just out of reach
Words so empty when they preach
Answers come like winter sun
Sporadic, incomplete

Extend the hand with open palm
Except what is received
Expect what no one can foresee
And never be deceived

Expectations, resolutions
Pious message, institution
Trust that nothing can be trusted
Our Savior's hold is frail and rusted
Just live life, make mistakes
Learn then grow, avoid the snakes
Answers are not what will save
The Question eternally transcends the grave [comments] => 3 [counter] => 256 [topic] => 61 [informant] => jesusofholland [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 5 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => selfstruggles )

My head is in a stir tonight so I most likely will not find the right words to do this poem the justice it deserves.

I will simply state it is moving and real, leaving a feeling that I cannot explain but it is powerful.

Hugs

Michelle

Thank you for the first post! To be honest, this poem is a hodge podge of feelings, ideas, insecurities, and personal advice. The feeling it leaves is for you and you alone. Thank you for reading it, and even more for the kind words.
Ryan
