Looking to the stars for their guidance
While the canvas hangs empty, waiting for a sudden gale
Behind the helm of life the wayward heart take an unfaltering stance

A view across the horizon troubles the mind and makes a heart weep
Like an ode to his lover’s memory but one of a tormenting phantom
For in the deep blue of the ocean her eyes it does keep
Awaiting upon the gale that will fill the sail like a cool breeze in autumn

With clear sailing under a bright blue sky waiting for the rain
This empty vessel through soulless eyes ever does it stare
As the tears that stream along a weathered face do stain
And to the far corners of the compass trying to toss away every care

As far as the angels tucked away below deck
Paying heed their slumber not to stir
For there is nothing around but endless ocean not even a tiny speck
Of anything resembling land or anything that can remind him of her

The stars and the clear midnight give no comfort
As the still waters mirror the night sky
Just as the eyes mirror the world around them but tend to distort
Yet nothing speaks, not a breeze nor a sigh

While angels wake and take flight upon their mother’s wing
From the stillness a gale arises with a visit from St. Elmo’s Fire
Wanting to see Heaven so he can once more hear his angel sing
An end to his nightmare has become his heart’s only desire

Lovely, romantic, sad and hopeful.
This creates such a picture and I think it is a wonderfully written poem. It is a wonder what one can do with words.

Take care
Christina
