Array ( [sid] => 142987 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => The night he slept forever… [time] => 2008-06-05 20:46:15 [hometext] => Recently somebody close to me lost their little boy. He fell asleep and did not wake again. Taken from his family in the night. Watching someone close to me go through this, made me realise that you never know what is going to happen... [bodytext] =>
He lay there dreaming that night
The night I never could have imagined being his last
There he lay so peacefully
I did not fear for him as I had no reason to..did I?

I did not fear that never again would I hear him call my name
Nor did I fear id never see him smile again,

Its only now I wish I had feared
As if I had, I would have held him near,
And maybe, just maybe id still have my baby here.

As he lay there dreaming that night
I wonder what he thought ..was he full of fright?
My only hope is that he was gently dreaming when he saw the light
The light that would take him from this land to another.

One question I do ask is why him? Why my baby?
Had I done wrong?
Or was it that he, to me did not belong,

I guess ill never know this and that’s what hurts the most
I will never know why someone had the right to take something so close

Gently he slept, gently he went.
My little boy taken from me without my consent.

And what hurts me even more was that I wasn’t there
I wasn’t there to say good bye or to look him in the eye and tell him everything would be ok.

My only hope is that he was taken by someone who will care
And by someone who will tell him that I would have been there
Given the chance,
Id have done so much more then just a single glance.

What a tragic loss! I can't begin to imagine the anguish the parents, family and friends must be going through. Keep him alive in your hearts..that's what he'd want...and stay strong.. Good write...

SIDS is such a shocking and hard thing to understand. This is simply heartbreaking, I went through this with my friend as well. I agree with Jen keep the memory alive, though there is always guilt there is no place to place blame. It is a sad thing that happens with no reasons why.

I am so so sorry. A beautiful write and tribute to the memory.

Hugssssss
