The earth swells and opens to swallow me whole

now underground it is time to pay the ferryman his toll

My acquiescence leads my soul to be surrendered, at the end of this test

horrible things I see and feel when I rest

at night my sense of loss does prevail

but it is all nothing compared to waking life
at the mercy of my travail

It could be silent and hard to see

Or too torrid and too sad to stay hidden inside of me

It will all bleed out onto the paper eventually

But doomed to be longing for you I will always be [comments] => 3 [counter] => 320 [topic] => 48 [informant] => kwg [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => EmotionalPoetry )

Very poignant, very sophisticated. Like the line "Or too torrid and too sad to stay hidden inside of me." This poem has such a definite path, which stands out in contrast to the equivocation it conveys. I really like that dynamic.

Nice write. I can relate to it very well, especially the last line. Thanks for sharing, I'll be sure to read up on more of your works.
