Just walk.
take a sturdy pole for poking at things
and stretch your legs over the terrain.

Feel the sun on your face,
the breeze on your skin.
soak in the grand vista of clouds and sky.
notice the trees encroaching on you
-your pulse quickening with
the disparate sounds;
the still anticipation.

Watch your feet as they
find their own way;
step-step-step
the crackling of branches
and bark hard in the silence.

Sense the hum of the earth
through the soles of your shoes;
suck deep the good air
and feel glad to be alive. [comments] => 11 [counter] => 346 [topic] => 27 [informant] => spike [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 25 [ratings] => 5 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => NaturePoetry )

This must have been such a serene experience for you. Terrific imagery, I feel like I was there, or at least saw a really great picture :o).

I don't think humans were necessarily designed to settle in one place, and whilst I feel very tied to where I live whenever I go for a walk I always find myself wanting to know what is round the next corner, or past that horizon. As a result I know "my land" very well indeed.

Lovely write Spike, I can relate to the sentiments.

Hey .. where'dja get them boots pilgrim??

God Spikers. This feels soooooooo intimately serene to me.
Just a glorious feeling of euphoria and it was so wonderful to
live it again, I'm sure, through your words. I long for the day
I can take these kinds of walks whenever I damn well please,
you know?

Away from the responsibility and strife of the ordinary and just
soak up the surround.... planning, dreaming, or just breathing.

I especially adore the last stanza. It sums up the emotion of this
walk for me. Too exceptional to resist. Life is magnificent, is it not?

gorgeous piece, poet.
