You've learned to fly before you could walk, and sang with the Saints before you could talk
Though I've never met you, I miss you dearly.........

Arriving upon wing, or slithering on scaled abdomen, breaching water's surface, and never giving omen
Every tooth, fang, claw and bur, bring swift and untimely ending's spur
Demise's science created by man, holds no shadow over the creature's span
For neither famine, corruption, pestilence, or war, will or can summon anything of such abhor
Gripping our nightmares with a strangler's clench, breathing in our faces its carrion stench
Highest of sins, it's name none shall maunder, no greater misery tearing life sunder
To out-live your child, hell's own creation, there is never more horrid or such depredation
How can God let such things occur, there must be a reason we can only infer
Everything happens for all sorts of reason, His contract with man, God's very own treason
This shouldn't bechance any no matter the cause, so pray for the afflicted and give them your pause
And while on your knees invoking with prayer, be thankful your children are eluding Death's stare

As usual this is very thought provoking.I had to read it thru a few times but thats what is so enjoyabe about your poetry Steve. It makes you think on a different level.By the way if you have a bible look at 1 John5vs19 it tells us whose in control of this world and behind the terrible occurrences. Not that I want to minimize you or your friends grief.Ijust get comfort that there are answers to why these things happen.Lilymae

Oh Steve, this is so heartbreaking... it brought back some hard times for me.... I know first hand what this feels like..and the pain never goes away.
I, too have questioned the Master's plans but we have to believe he has a reason for them.
My thoughts and prayers are with Emily's family and friends...
Hugs
Jenni

My god, that is harshly powerful. I don't mean harsh as in bad writing... I mean harsh in the reality you paint here. You have conveyed your emotion superbly in this very sad write.

I am sorry for your loss but keep on with the great writing. I think it helps the healing by writing.

Take care,

Tim

Steve,
I offer my condolences to you and yours during this time. The pain this little girl's family feels is beyond my words. I can say that it is not a sin, to be alive. I would be speaking truth. Yet, your write ever so gracefully has brought the true emotions home. My heart is with all of you right now. I sincerely mean that.
Best of my Blessings
Love and huge bear hugs
Kara
