Well, I once left my home and I once left it fast With a box full of papers and handful of cash. There were so many things that I wish I could pass; But inside I just wanted to stop.
The man with the flowers looked into my eyes. How I wanted to tell him but just had to cry. He said "boy, why you cryin'?", then gave me the time And I left and went on with my day.
I stood by myself and I laughed as a truck Tried to drive up a curb but it failed and got stuck. And the man selling pretzels worked hard for a buck. He sold nothing and neither did I.
Have I wasted my time? Have I nothing to say? I allow them to burn into day after day, I suppose I resist 'cause I'm much too afraid. Now I'm driving away down the road.
