Array ( [sid] => 146324 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Unable to Hug [time] => 2008-11-14 15:13:38 [hometext] => This had a different ending then I went to lunch with my ward and she listened to me. It is my ward's fault that I write. She talked me into trying and since she said the best stuff comes from angst, all my poems are about her, I hope to change that. [bodytext] =>

She asked for hugs the other day,
but all the reasons to hug have flown away.
I avoid her when I can so not to her appear cold,
for emotions once held in my heart I no longer hold

An explosion started the love to abrade,
afterward I saw caring too had begun to fade.
Into my heart, into my soul, I in desperation seek,
a landscape that was love, but now is bleak.

I know I should tell her how she appears,
and me thinking all has been a lie this year.
I want to believe what she has to say,
but my trust in her has gone away.

Made up my mind, as she speaks I won't think of disimilation,
I will accept her at her word, make an accomidation.
I can do this, I know I can, I will give her my trust,
for she is worth it, and do it I must.

Another weary fight to make something of this,
a rusty old knight, just wanting peace and bliss.
I know she is worth it, so I will make one more start,
for the daughter not of my blood, but of my heart. [comments] => 1 [counter] => 160 [topic] => 65 [informant] => gmcse8 [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => toughstuff )

the last two lines of this poem are true poetry, as you would say.
they are the ones that struck me most.
