whether we are one natlonality or another?
Perhaps the first time we are aware
is when we recognize our quality of life is better here.
Possibly the first time we stand at attention,
with our hand over our heart
and the Pledge of Allegiance is recited befoe the event starts.

When did we realize freedom was worth the fight,
and that a cause can be worth a human life?
Our freedom is a precious gift;
an oppoutunity for happiness.
Our life style we must protect;
but it comes with a major sacrifice.
We may be asked to lay down our life.

When all is said and done,
truth, honor and duty will have won.
And our hearts will swell with pride
as we honor those who died.
Thus we sing our national anthem
as voices ring out in unison,
and we all feel proud to be American. [comments] => 2 [counter] => 239 [topic] => 28 [informant] => willofree [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => Patriotic )
