a sick feeling in my gut.
I was visiting a old friend,
and I knew it was going to be a shock.

I sat there watching the clock,
waiting for the appointed hour.
Dreading every minute,
that brought me closer to her.

I paced around the house,
trying to control my breathing.
All I could think of,
was the saddness and tears.

Finally you showed up,
and we drove to meet my old friend.
And you grabbed my hand,
and everything disappeared.

It was a shock,
no words were said.
I just knew I had the strength,
because you were here.

We pulled in and I felt the anxiety return,
for she was somewhere in here.
We waited for only a moment,
as my friends mother pulled in.

She got out of the car,
and I embraced her after a year.
I know this wasn't my friend,
but I could see it in her eyes.

The mother of my friend,
the one who gave her life.
The one who had been in pain for over a year,
and me who had felt nothing till now.

She said to tell my parents that I loved them,
for you should always show them how dear they are to you.
And she turned to my companion,
and I could see the tears.

They hugged,
both in tears.
I could see the love and care,
of this dear friend of mine.

We walked along the path,
of lost children.
To a grave marked by two pictures,
my dearest friend and her twin brother.

Then it hit me,
all at once.
All the pain,
all the loss.

I could not cry,
because I had not tears left.
She was gone,
and she was never coming back.

She meant so much to me,
and I don't think she ever knew.
I knew I lost a part of my heart,
that day a year ago.

Then you wrapped your arms around me,
and I knew I was going to be alright.
The pain and loss was still there,
but with you there I could manage it.

I talked about who she was,
and how we got along.
She was always there in my heart,
we were never far apart.

Now that part of my heart is empty,
the strength she use to give me gone.
I know she is always watching over me,
but its just not enough.

I want my friend back,
I miss her so much.
She will always have a reserved place,
deep inside my heart.

I thought this poem was full of sadness and soulful meaning. It touched me deeply because I too have lost a friend. My eyes welled up as i was finishing it. (((((HUGS)))))

It is hard to lose someone that close to us.
I hope you find comfort and peace. Hold onto all that the two of you shared in life it does help some.

Beautiful write

Hugs
Michelle
