And blowing in the wind
She sank her barren feet
Into the warmness of the sand
It rose up between her toes
And tickled at her heels
Then a wave would come ashore
And show her painted nails once more
A lustrous rainbow shown in her eyes
As she peered across the sea
The coolness of a single tear
Lightly brushed her pallid cheek
Her arms were swaying in the breeze
But her fists were hard as stone
Her knuckles white as snow
Above the brilliant golden band
Disdain was boiling in her blood
Intense sorrow broke her heart
Consumed with desires to scream and shout
She dropped down to her knees
With her white knuckled fists she pounded at the sand
And her hair lolled into the sea
Deep in her pocket hid a ruby red ribbon
It had been there since late yesterday
Her frail, precious hand let go of it's grip on it's fist
And retrieved the ribbon from hiding
It blushed in the moonlight
And quivered with the force of the wind
With one blink of her eyes and the release of her grip
Her child's red ribbon swam away with the sea...

Lia....

You always seem to take the reader into the moment with such vivid detail, every precious moment written with such exquisite colors that one can't help but feel themselves a part of what takes place.

As always, excellent write.

Doug

Once again, a stirring poem. You draw us in with your beautiful description, then pull at our emotions in the end. Thank you.
