I guess there are things about me, most will never know,
When it comes to letting people in, I just I’m kinda slow.
Like what runs through me head right before I close my eyes,
Or what’s behind my thoughts, when you hear me sigh.
I wish I could open up, like written words on a page,
But if words were of color, mine would be of beige.
Sometimes I am sadden with what the world has in store.
How I might appear on the outside isn’t always at the core.
I wish I could be the person that my mind clearly sees,
But the person of whom, is very hard to be.
There’s time when I think I want to let the world in,
But mostly those times run very thin.
Am I afraid of being hurt, or is at just an excuse,
To keep the chains of intimacy loose.
There’s just so much about me, you may never understand.
You think you know the person, but do you really know the man?

Things about me

I guess there are things about me, most will never know,

I know exactly where you are coming from on this one. It is very difficult ot let anyone in and see the real you. That is the great thing about poetry. You can write what you want and no-one really knows if it is the real you or your imagination hard a t work.

I also know that when you do find someone that you can be yourself around - it is such a release. Not having to worry about putting on a front and being able to do and say exactly what is on your mind and to know that you are going to be respected for it.

I truly hope you will find someone soon.
