I have asked for forgiveness from those I’ve wronged in my life
I have said good-bye to my kids and my wife
It is time this old warrior takes his final sleep
Lay me within the earth, dark and deep

Each time I entered a battle I would always pray
Lord, please let me live to fight another day
However, this time I knew I would not be victorious
This enemy has become the most notorious

To spare disgrace and humility upon my battered self
My sword and dagger I placed quietly upon a shelf
No human weapons are needed where I go
This is something everyone should know

As I make my way to the new place I will call home
I will look over all of the land on which I used to roam
Seeing people from this view is amazing, I pray you all have the same belief
I wish for each of you at your chosen time the same eternal peace
