Array ( [sid] => 150009 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => SPRINGING WYOMING [time] => 2009-05-19 14:35:33 [hometext] => Excitement begins with the first traces of Spring in Wyoming. We've endured 8 months of snow. Boy-- are we glad when Springing Wyoming starts it's beginning! [bodytext] =>

"SPRINGIN' WYOMIN''"

Huge snowdrifts that gently melt into the earth......
'Tis "Springin' Wyomin'" a rebirth.
Seasons in Wyoming are never on time.
Snow in May or September, July
in my lifetime.

Visions of home grown tomatoes
soon disappear.........
One awakens to a blizzard in May each year
It takes a while for "Springin'"
to catch on.......
Wonderous works suddenly appear.

Winter's nakedness stands against the sky,
Minute intricately rolled leaves
heave a sigh........
Stretching, they sense a "Springin''"
is nigh.

Leaf like cocoons tightly wrapped, flutter and flurry
In the sun's warmth they dry in a hurry
The excitement can be felt, the trees are budding
and,
All nature begins breathin'.............

Curly worms by Robins are used to play
horseshoes..........

Lawn mowers retrieved from garages
and
replaced with snowshoes....

Big beautiful, boisterous, and shiny
Starlin's shriek their mating song.....

Mrs. Starlin' answers him back.........."Don't you sing
to me you Big Black Bird You........I remember last
spring........I had to sit on a nest of eggs all spring long!"

and finally............

Those visions of "Beef Steak" tomatoes and
a garden once again appear.........
We in Wyomin' have a short time for a garden
we have to plant late, and in the rear.

I'm like poor Barney, my "Green Thumb"
went south,
But my sweet neighbor "Tee" came to my rescue,
and helped me out!

Oh, My.... how I love the "Springin' in Wyomin'"
Our souls are burdened with blizzards of snow,
along comes Springin' with her cleanin'...

Created with "Springin' Rhymin'
Without Springin' in Wyomin'....
We'd lose all hopin'

The first day we could
do any plantin'

The kiss of the sun for pardon,
The song of the birds for mirth,
One is nearer God's heart in a garden
Than anywhere else on earth.

Conni,
I am so happy to see you and read this poem. I have missed you so.

I am also happy you have springin in Wyoming and have a chance to get out to diggin in the soil in Gods beautiful country.

You sure made me smile with each enyoyable word of the poem.

I know the harsh winters of Wyoming they can bite a person and set them to begging for the springin!

Love you so much
Michelle

Ahhh, Spring! Michigan here, and just as happy to see green. lol I love the snow, but the cold does get to be a problem after a few months! Your poem was a delight to read, as it expressed a lot of my sentiments too. The pictures were just an added bonus. So just keep smiling those Sprin' Smiles!
Peace and happiness,
Thumps ;o)

Oh con, this was enormously uplifting. The pictures placed with the words
just made my heart race. Living in Canada, we have a long wait for spring
as well, so I fully understand and appreciate it when it arrives. Your piece
captured the joy and excitement so vividly! I especially like the little wormy guy.
teehee

Positive and beautiful, as always. Just like our wonderful consue! :D

*hugs*
