Here, perched upon the edge
Of my tightly woven nest.
I look around at this New World,
After awakening from my long slumberous rest.
What do I see before my eyes?
Is it caring, sharing, and deep love for one another.
Or jealousy, anger, fear and many, many hurtful lies?
This crucial, central part of the heavens
Was, when I left, the most beautifully peaceful place,
Where nothing needed to be forgiven.
What happened, where did it all go?
Did something change the way of this world?
Ah, a closer look reveals the answer to be no!
It is all still here, just now beneath the surface,
Inside the souls of all mankind!
We all must bring it forth
Before making the ultimate sacrifice.
I would like to know the why of this burying of goodness?
I will need this knowledge
If meanness is to be under eternal suppress.
Self-control is what's missing!
This is all it is.
Regain this and regain everything!
Bring back humanity to this our Earth!
The way it was/is meant to be,
From the dawning of natures birth.
Jealousy is mistrust!
Mistrust brings about hatred!
Hatred is only jealousy!
Through self control only
Will this triangle be again broken.
There's goodness just inside!
Even within those hearts,
Who will insist it's best to hide!
Just beneath your beautiful skin,
Is your own good soul stirring.
Which will again thoroughly win!

This poem is truely thought provoking. It is a great piece of work. I really enjoyed it. I think that it is one of your best poems.

| likewise i found it thought provoking but also there is a sense of beauty behind it all, this is probably the best poem i have read lately that reflects upon these times we live in, well done |

| I have something to say that I feel may be appropriate here.....of sorts! ;-) A good artist often sees the world clearer than most. People who see the world clearly are generally sadder but wiser. But, to combine realism with optimism is a form of art all on it's own and is rarely acheived. You could say it's the key to over-coming depression. Call that words of wisdom or words of utter nonsense, it's up to you! Oh, and by the way, the poem itself is a thinker which in my books, makes it a good write! |

I understood this write perfectly, (parfectly :)
However, you and I, are usually on the same page many times over. :)
Very good write in a very perspective thought.
Wouldn't it be nice, if evil could just be pushed away more often, and more of the good to prevail... Yes, I know its there, we all just have to strive much harder to attain it, since, the goodness is more of the narrow path, then the wider one.
