[bodytext] => The Last Leaflet The way my life believes in me, Is the way I believe in my life. Though it’s hard to turn back, As life has moved its slide. I still sit wide awake, Staring at the last leaflet of my backyard creeper. Its seclusion seems more decisive, Waiting to get itself moved by a sweeper. It looks at me as I glance at it, Its yellowish attire was fading pale. I kept my eyes on it for quite some time, And it moved as if I’m in a fairy tale. I stood up and stalked towards it, It was out of my reach and too weak to control itself. Its heart must have leaped, But for it, I was deaf. And within a fraction of second, It couldn’t bear the breeze and hid. It cut its last bond with its mother, And landed on my palm as a dozed off kid. I could feel the dew drops, It was lax and cold. I could see a creation of nature, As dead but I kept myself quiet and bold. That day I went searching a graveyard, And dug a hole for the dead leaf. I was paying respect to a nature’s creation, I cried for it but for me it was deaf. The gentlefolk there stood and laughed at me, They declared me as idiot and insane. I looked up at them for some time, They couldn’t understand my pain. I buried the leaf and went away, I sat on my armchair looking at the creeper with high spirit. I don’t care whatever people say, I’ll wait till the next spring for a new leaf and a winter to bury it. -By Aswin Suresh [comments] => 1 [counter] => 247 [topic] => 48 [informant] => Aswin [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 5 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => EmotionalPoetry )
