makes our bay treacherous even in June
white caps right off the docks, frozen water
tiny white jellyfish like stars rise from the
black depths

small hours find us aboard this vessel
tearing across the water, out into rougher seas
the boat pitches forward and aft, rolling with the waves
frozen spray leaps off the bow
showering us as my black gloved hand
wraps around his life jacket
(only a full year older than I, at the tender age of twenty)
his hand shoots out, dayglow orange line on the deck
and I furiously tend it, minding our feet and limbs
the helicopter takes off, and it's over before it began

coming home to a quiet house hours later
sleep is the frozen feeling in my limbs
i wrap my arms around the one i love
indulge in warm milk
and in the night i dream of the helicopter lights
and cutting through the water in the rain [comments] => 2 [counter] => 337 [topic] => 31 [informant] => inlovewithaladd [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 0 [associated] => [topicname] => StoryPoetry )

Hi Dri...it's me...been ages...in the grand scheme of things...us being little blips on universal radar and all...life is a bit like a "day job." I hope you still have the one you Love and the glass of milk...in late 2009 I switched from writing poetry to writing lyrics which I accompany on an acoustic guitar...you are a fond memory...I was always awed by the power of your...hmmmmmm..."words" doesn't work here..."phrases" doesn't work here either...perhaps expression works, but it is more than ten letters...nawwww...I was always awed by the power of your heart, soul and spirit...the deeper one plummets, the higher one soars, and if you do anything, Dri, you soar...

I don't log on to this website very much anymore, but you cross my mind often...I am blest for having crossed paths with you...

Blessings always...

Dri...this is me...I miss you...six years...might as well be a million...whoosh...so easily the air escapes into who knows where...feel like I'm talkin' to myself...perhaps I am...never-the-less, I miss you more than I miss myself...don't give up...don't be like me...don't give up...enigma
