I saw a moment yesterday,
beautiful in its own way
passed it by and went ahead;
I wonder where that moment led

I held a moment, way back when
I wish I could hold it again;
beautiful and so carefree
I let it slip away from me

We have our images to see
the moments in their reverie,
their horror and banality
the photos and the memories

Not quite the same as when they live;
the pleasure and the pain they give
fade like colours in the sun,
sepia in thought and tone

I’ve had my moments, you’ve had yours
more to come in dribs and scores;
moments there, for all to see
then lost to ephemerality.

I must say, Sir Spike that this poem was so absolutely enjoyable for several reasons.

One, it flowed so damn effortlessly. It was like as I say in the poetry world (which is sometimes different than the real world) easy on the eyes... or should I say the "poetry eyes". No what I mean? Some of the poems I see are quite frankly, difficult to read.... without a doubt, this one is not.

Then there is that moment, however brief, you write of that seems we want to look back and say, I really should not have let it go. I should have acted upon it at once. Ah, if only we could go back and change things. Anyway, I love that subject and you "poemed" about it perfectly.

Thanks,

Tim

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
