Along the paths of dreaming
the black crows are screaming,
cawing for the pieces
of the memories that are me.

But I hold ‘em like my treasures,
the pain and all the pleasures;
a scarecrow for the moments
that huddle close to home.

The Dark Man is stalking me,
grinning as he’s walking, see
counting all my spent days
against them that remain.

But I brush aside his follow
‘cause I know his heart is hollow,
while mine is overflowing
with love and life and song.

The back roads of wandering,
dead quiet in my rambling
can be treacherous and wanton,
but I love to take the chance.

On the horizon, distant vagaries
friends, or maybe enemies;
yet only the joining path
will let all be revealed.

A poem on a few levels, my favourite kind of writing!Great imagery, open to interpretation and an announcement of life in the line,"while mine is overflowing with love and life and song." I thoroughly enjoyed this.

Hi,

This is quite simply one of the best poems that
I've read on this site ..... or any site, for that
matter.

This would grace the pages of poetry written
by the eternal bards!

Terrific!

Tommy

Love this. It makes me very happy to see poetry unlike my own that says so much so eloquently!
