Make the sadness taste like sunshine
While the angel with a broken halo sings to me
Standing amidst a field of ashes pretending to be divine
I have become lost inside the confusion
Stranded among these hollow eyes and dirty mouths
Diluted truths make this life feel like an illusion
Locked up in seclusion
I have become the aftermath
The destruction at the end of a failed path
A victim of your wrath
See all I wanted to do was love you
But as I stand here with my broken heart in my hand
Bleeding and barely beating...
I realize I am just a prisoner inside the cage of your deceptive eyes
Your makeshift paper wings....merely a disguise
Flying me to the brink of lunacy and then leaving me stranded
Broken and abandoned...
I'll never forget your lips
Like daggers against my already bleeding soul
Still it somehow felt so good
As you manipulated my existence in ways no one ever could
Wrapped within a web of my own devotion
My lovesick eyes just wouldn't let me see
Wouldn't let me see you were only a seed of tragedy
Planted with false pretentions
Bad intentions
Now I stand here...beside my broken heart and misplaced mind
Wondering why...
I could never find the truth within the lie.

Absolutely brilliant imagery with the perfect ending. Very well-written with some ideas that definitely struck home. Well done.
