I always think I know what's best yet still I'm not so sure
My decisions always falter; they sway to an extreme
My head left with the aftermath that makes me want to scream
Seeing every part play out; seeing all I've stored away
Keep every feeling minimal; the anger left at bay

Couped up within my shell where shackles are my only friends
I'll walk this path in solitude until I find the end
Left lifeless on the wayside where the storm has yet to pass
Nothing left for me to do except kick back and relapse

The dissonance has quieted within my aching heart
Though the shock has not yet settled from when I fell apart
These memories I've yet to shed--cast out in time and space
Leave me swelling deep inside; each one pouring down my face
My defenses have all weakened; the battle yet to cease
Strong, though, I'll rebuild these walls to protect the core of me

There's violence in the night that will bruise me deep inside
From choices I have yet to make--refusing to take sides
For nothing seems so sweet when you are glancing at the past
I guess all that I've left to do is kick back and relapse

I've been waiting in the dark as hours pass to my dismay
Waiting for the mourning dawn that will bring a brighter day
I find myself stuck within the hours of the pale moon's light
Afraid to go the distance; fear my footing won't be right
Yet every star that spins with desire held in its ranks
Keeps me moving on as I walk along upon these planks

This cliffside made for jumping, I cling firmly to the edge
Hoping to see to the depths as I look over this ledge
I know exactly what I'll see and there's no turning back
I guess as I go over I'll just kick back and relapse

Convictions I've left waning as my moral fibers fade
Beginning to shed their light as I move along my way
Have left me wanting even less yet still I ask for more
Devoted to this yearning even when the choice was poor
But I can never take them back--those choices that I pick
So I'll take this bull by its horns and ride til I get sick

The ups and downs I'm stuck between
This unfamiliar gravity
Falling faster straight through the black
Why don't you kick back and relapse

Take my hand and we'll fall together through this blasphemy
And hands apart we'll walk alone throughout eternity
Where soon you'll see the choice you made
Was nothing more than mere mistake
And caught up in your own regret
You'll realize it's not over yet
For second-hands stop turning as we float amidst our pasts
Nothing left for us to do except kick back and relapse [comments] => 0 [counter] => 134 [topic] => 75 [informant] => satanssecret1369 [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 12 [ratings] => 3 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => anguished )
