Somersby, Summerdebi in the Norman book.
Gocelin FitzLambert, held for his lord.
Parson's son, he of later renown,
poetic master of the written word.

At Edward the VI grammer school of repute,
looked through the glazed apature,
across the road in Schoolhouse Lane.
Wrote of a wall in versed rapture.

And so began, at an early age,
a word's smith of World fame.
Gushing words from his pen,
poems,sonnets,idylls he did declaim.

Alfred Lord Tennyson, bold innovator,
disliker of hyphens, but a word trickster.
Selley,Gray,Collins and others,
helped no doubt to pen his pictures
