I am the Hate
In every heart I await
Sleeping
Waiting to be woken
Dreaming
Waiting to be spoken
Keep me low during those
Summer nights
But burn me bright
When the time is right
Lost and alone
Out of friends and chilled to the bone
When at last you fall
Cold and unknown
I will be your cane
Even when your body feels slain
So do not refrain
I will keep you sane
Held like a glowing ember in your chest
Feed me your fear, self pity and regrets
I crave lost love and broken dreams
Let me devour all that you are
Send me your soul
And Ill send you the cure
Pick me up I am your shield
Hold me tight Ill keep you sealed
To be untouched is to be unhurt
I am all you need for comfort
Unfeeling and senseless youll wonder the world
Cold and collected youll get your deserved
The hater is the hated
To this you will be fated
To the world
you will be unrelated

An interesting and clever way to spin such a powerful emotion into a well written poem. The imagery used is splendid and you clearly have conveyed how it rests inside and needs only a spark to awaken to take form. I really enjoyed this. well written Brandon.

| I love it. You explain hate perfectly in this poem. The personification shows how hate is within all of us and waiting to be unleased. Excellent writing. I can visualize it well. Heidi |

Brandon, this is exceptional writing. You've taken an emotion that so many covet, (some unwillingly,) and perfectly exacted its unreasonable hold. I love the twist at the end. SO true! So many think that it keeps their heart safe, but in actual reality, it prevents them from feeling, (no matter how hard they try) all the pleasure in the world. Excellent post. Well done, poet!

Well gosh mister, this is amazing. I love it! my favorite lines have to be "Feed me your fear, self pity and regrets

And I�ll send you the cure" the words have such a strong connotation. your amazing with words. You truly have a lot of talent (: keep writing ! i want to read more
