Array ( [sid] => 158778 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => For Kate [time] => 2010-04-09 07:32:08 [hometext] => When I first suffered a complete breakdown seven years ago my last remaining relative, my sister Kate, cared for me in her tiny bedsit and rescued me from insanity. [bodytext] =>
FOR KATE

A sister, true sibling, a Saviour and light,
Who when fragile in mind, helped in his fight.
Weakened and feeble, forever in her debt,
The one that he loved, so quick to accept
He was troubled, nervous and in terrible plight.

Without any funds she tended him completely.
Proffered him warmth, protection and sweetly
Turned one damaged into a human being once more.
Pride returned and his self-esteem evened the score.
Humility restored he treated her discreetly.

The man always wore his heart on his sleeve,
His credo not awry but a will to believe
That when family is taken, reduced to a core,
The survivors will gel, maybe not as before,
But stronger, more binding, a chance to achieve.

What say you of your loves, family and kin?
Does the feeling between you make you reel and spin?
If not then make efforts to surrender the past
For a love that is now is the one that will last.
Family bonds are treasures with which you will win.

There is a beautiful truth in your advice. What a lovely tribute and in essence, a thank you, to someone who did not abandon you in your time of need. Would that we could ALL have that in life. Kate sounds like a wonderful woman. Thank you for sharing this heart stirring and very sweet dedication.

This poem is so moving--I nearly cried. Your message is so clear here. Family bonds are what gives life its meaning. I hope some day my son and daughter develop the bond that exists between you and your sister. Sometimes it takes something devastating to make you become closer to your loved ones. I loved this poem. Excellent job! I hope all is well for you!
