And voices that shouldn’t be heard;
But silence is better than either;
And it speaks without a word.

There are deeds not completed;
And deeds never began;
But a deed done in secret;
Does more than any one man.

There are old men that should be wiser;
And young men with wisdom of old;
But most men don’t know the difference;
Even when they are told.

There are souls with understanding;
And souls that know what’s real;
But some souls seem to exist;
Only to lie and steal.

There are things that seem important;
And things you sense are not;
And things you should remember;
And things best left forgot.

There are times when it might seem right;
And times you might pay the cost;
But mostly I’ve concluded;
Most time in this world is lost.

I like this poem. It seems the author set out with a clear sense of direction and kept a clean, steady rhythm throughout the poem.

The last line of your poem is the CLINCHER! Wow! What a wonderful philosophical piece you have written and shared with us. Indeed, most time is wasted, alas. But there are those, fortunately, who rarely waste their time, and as a result, have given the world wondrous things: computers, televisions, light bulbs, airplanes, t.v. dinners, microwave ovens, etc., etc.
You've written a very insightful piece. Keep writing...you're really very good ar it!
