but now it’s over
no more lazy days of staring out the windows pane
no more acoustic sessions watching you singing in the rain
leaving behind lipstick glasses full of sorrow
for me to find in the lonely hour of tomorrow
your clothes thrown in a hurried escape
brushing aside the notion of another day
disillusioned and weary from layered lies
a stagnant love broken and unable to try
I used to long for that final kiss
a final embrace held in your lips
but now it’s over and this is our last goodbye

Wow. This is potent!! There is a mountain of emotion
in this. And so much poetry swiming within your words.
My heart breaks, breathing in each line as it pierces
the soul. You've done a masterful job here. I especially
love

"no more acoustic sessions watching you singing in the rain"

and also,

"I used to long for that final kiss
a final embrace held in your lips"

Oh, be still my poor romantic heart. DAMN fine writing
this is. The flavour of your style tastes exquisite.

Wonderful post, poet!! -- Achelois

When I first saw the title, I thought of a Beatles video of them doing Get Back on a roof top. D'oh, not so. My bad.

Anyway, I still enjoyed the poem and can sooo relate. It hammered the emotion directly into my heart and tears came to the eyes as I thought of my last marriage that did not end so well. Painful and that's what writing is about.

Thank you.

Tim
