Array ( [sid] => 1604 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Here I Am Again [time] => 2002-08-02 10:29:31 [hometext] => This was my first poem since Nuclear War and was written in June 2001 in the middle of the night. I found writing it all down helped me overcome my nightmares and fears that were ultimately just reliving my past. So, it became the first of many. [bodytext] => Here I am again
Alone and in the dark again
As I sit here in my bed this night
too afraid to say goodnight
For I know what is to come for me
The darkness that sleeping brings to me
The endless pain and darkness I fight
The pain and torture that haunts me each night
As I lay upon this bed
so cold, so lonely, so empty
Still I sleep.....despite what I know
in hope that one day
my inner strength will grow
And maybe this night, just maybe
I will have the strength within me
to fight the demons deep inside
who escape their prison every night
and haunt me 'til the day I die

Still, I lay in bed still sleeping
but the demons within me escape again
Oh God, the feeling of fear and pain
Oh God, the hatred and despair
I toss and turn, my heart doth stop
and I awake again this night
In my heart once more I am weeping
unable to speak for the fear I am feeling
The feeling of his hand so strong
pressed against my mouth again
Oh God, it feels so real this time,
I wish for inner peace to be mine
but yet again, I cannot breathe
for the experience of this torture
replays itself again to me
over and over and over again
the pain, the darkness, the torture again
Oh the nightmares doth take me
consume me, become me
as I struggle to breathe again

So, here I am again
alone......and in the dark again [comments] => 1 [counter] => 158 [topic] => 13 [informant] => debz [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 9 [ratings] => 2 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => DarkPoetry )
