Sensual, silky to the touch with a scent to charm
And seduce on a long hot summer day.
The petal opens
And receives the word of the bees,
But just below this delicate consumption
The thorn is deadly, piercing flesh
And searing bone with a burning intensity.

And all too soon this sensual charmer is gone,
Its beauty fading on a small tear,
Shed by too many days in the hot sun,
Its beauty consumed by sweet mother earth.
The bees have abandoned a fashion,
The thorn is bitter still
And the delicacy of what once was
Is brittle and ash grey at the edge of the petal
That is shaken from the stem by the determined hand of decay. ROSES AT YOUR FEET! Dennis.
A Rose is a gift from God, and so is this delicately penned poem!
I must be a bit sad today, because the last line hit me rather hard. "Tis the same with a beautiful life lived. "Shaken from the stem by the deternined hand of decay!
But then on the other hand, if we live with beauty, and see with beauty like the rose...........and like you Dennis, write your beautiful prose.........it will remain forever and ever!
I loved this poem very much'
Warm love
