such as honesty
You hurt me so bad it was as if you were all I had
I trusted you my heart and all you did was knock it down and tear it apart
My walls are back up and my heart is well guarded, like it should of been when we first started
I still love you with the pieces I picked up from the floor but the pain I feel isn't worth feeling anymore
My knees are as scarred up as my heart I found abused and left to the side, I'm no longer hiding my tears inside
The pain and hurt brings back memories I choose to cover in black, that's where I want them kept and to never come back
I only wanted you to know the hurt and sorrow you brought me all because you couldn't accept me
When you love someone you love them for who and what they are not what you want them to be
So why do you keep trying to change me? [comments] => 3 [counter] => 239 [topic] => 22 [informant] => Beautifully-Imperfect [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 13 [ratings] => 3 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => LostLove )

My immediate response to your author's notes was "never change for anyone" but as I got to the last two lines seems you already knew that. Sounds like you got it together. Good writing too.

Just some more thoughts:

I absolutely believe that it's okay to compromise in relationships, however, to actually try to change who you are, that inner core of self, hmmmm...just wrong in my humble opinion.

Take care,

Tim

cool dude

This is so brilliant! I can totally empathise with it too.

And you shouldn't have to change for anyone. You're right, he should've loved you for who you are. His loss, eh?
You should thank him for the great poem he inspired you to write. ;D
