right down to our graves
from the place where we lay
to that slab in the morgue
a product of tedium;
through a lifetime in vain
praising false deities
of aesthetic perfection

Narcissism consumes us
capacities deep
vanity a demon
we cannot slay
we live, we breathe
reflections cast
a moral void eternally so

Narcissism blackens
our souls
as we speak
while morticians mask
our natural physique,
even in a casket
superficial we are
condemned to this ailment
six feet under

I like your choice on how to convey the narcissism and vanity of the world. Very well done.

Wow. You make it painfully clear. I love it. And I must say, I agree...
Wonderful poem. Thank you.

Oh this is awesome. My friend this is fantastic in all it's glory. A trait that rules the hearts and mirrors of the world. Spoken with truth and soul this is great writing. I like the stand of the poem and the message couldn't be any clearer.

haha, that one nailed it. I won't weigh in on narcissism's qualities, good or bad, but I'm liking the prevalence aspect. Digging the structure, too.

Well done! And on that note I shall be creamated and my ashes poured in an ink-pot to be used as bad poetry for any with a quill pen! LOL! Thank for this...
