In which the sun shines with florescent power,
Young birds fly through the air in play.
Truly this is one peaceful hour.

But no! In the meadow harm is done.
A beast drags that boy in a backwards trod.
So it seems the beast is having fun...
Whilst the boy calls for his beloved god.

He screams and he cries as he drags his nails,
It leaves the beast unmoved like stone.
Unimpressed by adolescent wails.
The boy's cries die down to a moan.

It's a familiar sight, this young boy's plight.
In fact it's getting quite redundant.
In this meadow a supply of characters are abundant.
There's the usual execution and homicide.

Hanging of a man who's killed others in deeds of wrong.
Brothers killing brothers in fratricide.
But then again you knew all along.
These meadows are haunted,

These visions will never come to an end.
Their pasts are flaunted,
And their emotions, one could never mend.
Their lives go on again for them to remember....

Their gloomy demise...
Down to each burning ember,
At the hands of the wise...
Whom their lives they did take...

As they laid their lives at stake...
These souls are oh so lost.
Unaware of each of their surroundings...
And unaware of the cost...

Of their perpetual endings.

I love this poem, and I am oh so curious as to the meaning. I have a guess, but I would love it if you sent me a message to explain it. : )

Is this meadow a metaphor for life? And who/what is this beast?

There is a lot going on in this poem, and I love it. Very deep.
