The warmth of your hand on the small of my back
Knowing you're there for my secrets to confide
Reassuring me with the confidence I lack

Togetherness, the union of the mind
This elusive intimacy I seek
Without great love a heart is blind
Without solid strength a soul is weak

Life slips away like sand between my fingers
Time marching on as I try and find my way
Searching out the emotion that gladly lingers
As night nudges out the brightness of the day

To be with you and yet still feel alone
To know you but not get to see your face
A longing that's as steadfast as a stone
Deep within me a yearning to be embraced

I'm the loneliest star sitting in the sky
Darkness spiralling all around me
The wind my soft and gentle sigh
With the desolation of being free

I'm just one half of a whole
The smallest slice of the pie
I feel I play an insignificant role
Inevitability creeps in as my head questions why

All I want is a small and simple life
To love and be loved equally in return
To share my days with you devoid of any strife
Knowing my company is the stability for which you yearn [comments] => 2 [counter] => 168 [topic] => 2 [informant] => Jussy74 [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 4 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => LovePoetry )

Wow... that was truly a beautiful piece of writing. You should be proud of it. I especially liked the stanza

"I'm the loneliest star sitting in the sky
Darkness spiralling all around me
The wind my soft and gentle sigh
With the desolation of being free"

Such a sad, lonely, and powerful description. This poem is gorgeous.

Again a well constructed poem. Clearly not from a novice in life.
