[hometext] => Holi is a hindu festival. Children await it a lot. Sdly, because of 9th class exms, I won't beable to celbrate it. Gulaal means coloured dust
[bodytext] => The first day of spring Nowhere in the world is celebrated With the same enthusiasm and spirit Than it is in my country On the festival of Holi Magnate or beggar, children or old Everyone come out of their homes; Paint each other’s faces with Gulaal And then take them into a warm embrace Just as the tradition says Oh! See how the rainbow Set so high above Amidst the sky of light, The rain of joy Drains the country In its own colour The cries of happiness Spread in the air The darkness and dismay Flee on the first streaks of light Of this day All the children run about And attack each other with water guns No evil on earth Can steal away the smile from their face Fearless, everyone dance and sing A song so soothing is never heard Save for that one single day of the year When nature and man become one Flecked in the colors of Holi, Everyone returns But the initial excitement does not end Because every fruit ripens And every garden blooms into flower The dawn of spring does end But that does not end the day However I know, In such a vibrant nation of mine Another Holi is never far away Another Holi is never far away… [comments] => 0 [counter] => 136 [topic] => 43 [informant] => Parishrut [notes] => Please read and comment on at least one other poem by another YPDC author for every poem you post.
