There my cold dark loneliness is found.
Mind hollowed and numb by whiskey
And body bathed in the stench of cheap cigarette smoke,
Wishing someone would take me home.

In despair I have drowned for far too long,
Wallowing like a pig in self pity and pride
Not wanting to be faulted for my lack of success in life,
When the fault was mine all the same.
Faults thought to be exonerated with drink in excess,
And all the so-called pleasures that come with.

And so I begin the long walk home
With no one by my side to pass the time,
Only to do it all over again with the same old regrets
Day after day until each night rolls back around to morn.
Forgive me these ramblings, these drunken thoughts from a sober man [comments] => 3 [counter] => 288 [topic] => 25 [informant] => solmyr1404 [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => MiscPoems )

I've heard it said that through drink we reveal our true self in the things we say.
Maybe it has the same effect on what we write.
Perhaps we should all get drunk and sit down to write....only trouble is it might be incomprehensible !!

Aha! Oh yes, the definition of insanity ... over and over. Nailed it. Nicely expressed and fine taste in poison ;)

I used to love me some whiskey a few 24 hours ago.

Thank you for the remember when, always clutch.
