Array ( [sid] => 167182 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Life's Song [time] => 2011-08-31 16:21:56 [hometext] => I wrote this poem because life begins so sweetly, but as you mature and love, life has the habit of turning sour. [bodytext] => At the start, a soft melody
At seven, the tune slows
Then the eye catches another
And the darkness starts to grow

A tickle, an itch, an urge
‘Till finally those hands meet
While the melody plays lower
Solemnly changing its beat

Tired of being ignored,
The music sings loud and clear
So blissfully enchanting
When the lips meet, then say “My Dear”

But, if ignorance is bliss...

Disaster strikes the notes
Fallen, they begin to bleed
Sweet life force draining, nothing’s left
Happiness is now not a want, but a need

Forget-me-not demons
Rush onto the pages
They swathe the notes in shadows
Coating them with hatred, with rages

The melody’s conductor
Skin gray as night
Finds his baton snapped in half
He does not attempt to fix it;
within him, there’s no fight

That sweet soft melody of birth
Won’t ever resume
Adjust to the silence
Hell knows no tune
