Im not who you think I am. I dont belong here I am from somewhere youve never been to, seen, thought of, or could ever dream of. My world is the same to yours, yet so different. Different people Different agriculture Differentwelleverything Im not one of your kind Although I look like you Talk like you Do the things you do Think the things you do I am not you And I will never be you No, im not here to spy Or dissect Or kill or hurt Im not sure why I am here But I know I was put here for a reason And Im on that long journey to find out what People are after me Not your people, but mine They know we are here, the few that we are Most of us are just kids Teens Children But some are adultsand they are after us If they get us, they will do anything for power Our power They are jealous of our group Some are stronger than others I am stronger than most, but not the strongest They will do anything and everything they can to get us But they cant They can try But together, we can, have, and will beat them all Atlas will finally be at peace No more wars No more destruction Just peace I might return home someday Maybe not It all depends on my ability to remember what happened My life My sister and parents My friends and enemies My rebirth It all happened And all I have to do is remember The crystal We have to protect it Right now, we dont have it But we stole it as kids We can take it back And we will We are stronger now Defensive Together A family of warriors Ready to fight Ready to do anything for each other We are all we have left Atlas is beautiful Trees, their branches flowing down to the ground like waterfalls The water, though theres not much, is a bright, bright blue as clear as air. You can see to the bottom of the oceans The air is clean and fresh A brand new land Not all of them are like our group To them, we are an unexpected army. No one knew what was going to come from us We are out of the ordinary there But we dont even exist here We could try to bring out our swords, armor, fighting skills But your world doesnt accept that Your kind would never understand what we go through Youre upset because you didnt see your friend at school today We have almost no friends; only ourselves and a few select other of your kind You forgot lunch, and your starving We sometimes go days without anything to eat I have almost gotten killed many times Ive actually been killed once Thats why I am here Everything has to come back to me before I can return to my home Maybe I will someday Maybe

What a wonderful poem -- and you wouldn't believe how many 'coincidences' I saw as I read your dynamic words. I, too, especially when I was young (I'm 60 now), I too felt as you do. The world is a mixed-up place -- but those of us who see beyond the mix-up --even as we age-- marvel that this Place stays in one piece. You have the life of a poet. May poetry be yours all your life! -- FlintHunter
PS I don't know how to 'rate' poems -- figuratively and literally. It's not my idea of a good thing to do. Is a pear less than an apple? is coal less that a diamond? You get my drift.... Even if I knew how to rate poems -- you'd not get a score out of me. When I was a teacher I refused to give grades to the students or else I gave them all A's. You of course -- like everyone -- then -- get an A -- just for being who you are -- and that's cool. And. That's. Cool. |
