Twixt the night and the day
You’ll hear them all say
That I’m nought but a paramour
Forever at your front door
For you’re young and I will always be old

Without you my heart breaks
Yet in your arms I’m all shakes
But not from the cold
But because you’ve been told
That you’re young and I will always be old

Your heart will not break
But mine it will ache
Should we part here today
But remember what they say
That you’re young and I will always be old.

You will find future love
From the heavens above
Because you are harmony
And Cupid your destiny
You’re young and I will always be old.

When the arrow is drawn
Though you pout and you scorn
The mark will be found
And the trumpets will sound
When you’re young and I will always be old

He will come to you then
In a deep forest glen
And take of your hand
As my heart turns to sand
When you’re young and I will always be old

He will pledge his great love
To the heavens above
And you’ll smile because you’re sure
That his heart’s really pure
When you’re young and I will always be old

You’ll take of his heart
And never be apart
For he’s really the one
And your heart he has won
When you’re young and I will always be old

But when I lay dying
I know I’ll be crying
Because you will know too
That I’m thinking of you
When you’re old and my own soul grows cold
