Array ( [sid] => 168111 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Looking back on Life [time] => 2011-10-26 01:48:34 [hometext] => I've given up on this desire or idea of being famous or leaving behind a legacy. when my time comes, I wish to leave this world in full. It's ok if the world doesn't remember you.For I don't think a persons soul wants to remember the world after they die. [bodytext] => And as we all sink beneath the ground
What did we seek to live here for?
And all the years I chased your pretty face
Time has made us ugly

And nobody will remember me
For I wasn’t in the history books
We weren’t wealthy, or famous
We invented nothing mankind desired

And yet I loved as much as anyone
I’ve cried as much as anyone
I’ve gained the entire world
Simply to lose it in the end

And what do I amount to?
Dirt, which is all that will remain of me
I am but a fleeting breath
The death of a majority

My name will die with me
As nature etches it from my tombstone
As we cling to the hope of something more
Let go, and let time erase an earth filled with footprints

Draw me away from the physical
And if my spirit’s finally free
Guide me onward
For heaven is all I want to remember

Looking back on Life is a fantastic poem! It speaks of wisdom and sensitivity and beauty. I feel the same as you... and anyhow it's not so wonderful to be famous; causes lots of conflict -- not that I would know :) great words. -- FlintHunter
